Claude Monet, "Field of Tulips in Sassenheim near Haarlem" Poster 61 x 51 cm
Field of Tulips in Sassenheim near Haarlem, Claude Monet 1886, oil on canvas 59.7 x 73.2 cm, Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute, Williamstown, Massachusetts USA. Tulip flowers in Holland in the Netherlands.
Painting Description :
Monet liked the image of the tulips floating in the canal, as they appear in the foreground of this canvas he painted during a trip to Holland :
"When the flowers are picked in full bloom, and thrown into a heap in the canals, one suddenly sees yellow patches floating like coloured rafts in the reflection of the blue sky" (Monet).
An image to be compared with the rafts of waterlilies he painted so many times in his garden at Giverny.
